Tisha b’Av: “Legend of Destruction” Film, Discussion, and Eicha Chanting

July 22, 2026
6:00 pm - 10:15 pm

“Master of the Universe- is this what you wanted?” (quote from Legend of Destruction).

On Tisha b’Av, the DMV Reconstructionist Congregations of Oseh Shalom, CJC, Kol HaLev and Mishkan Torah invite you to Oseh Shalom to commemorate the fall of the Temples in Jerusalem in a special way. In addition to hearing the chanting of Eicha/ Lamentations, we invite you to a viewing of the Israeli film, Legend of Destruction, an interpretation of the Talmudic stories about the fall of Jerusalem and the Second Temple. Through this viewing you’ll have the chance to see parallels between the legends of what unfolded over 2000 years ago with what is unfolding in our country and world today. Through the discussion afterward, we’ll have the opportunity to explore the power we each have to create a different reality than the destruction and suffering we see around us and anticipate intensifying.

The evening schedule is below, please join us for as much you wish:
