We’re delighted that you’re interested in finding out more about connecting with your Jewish heritage as part of a supportive community.  At Oseh Shalom, we create a warm, friendly atmosphere for celebrating Jewish life through prayer, learning and mutual support.

Oseh Shalom is a regional synagogue community comprised of individuals and families from diverse backgrounds who live in the Baltimore-Washington region. We are affiliated with the Reconstructioning Judaism and are dedicated to personal, communal and ecological tikkun (wholeness and healing) through Jewish tradition.

As an inclusive community, our members include same-sex couples and many interfaith families. Our members are all colors and backgrounds. We believe that the quality of the relationship defines the family, not its composition. Our diverse membership includes Jews with Conservative, Reform and Orthodox backgrounds, as well as Jews by choice and those exploring faith.

We welcome young singles, newlywed couples, families with young children, empty nesters and seniors. We have an active inclusion committee and are committed to removing barriers of architecture, communications and attitudes that exclude people with disabilities from full participation. We have had many Autistic, ADHD and other special children celebrate their bnei mitzvah with us.  Both family services and High Holy Day services are ASL interpreted. We are a peanut free building and our school further limits certain foods to protect children with allergies. We always offer vegan and gluten free options whenever food is served.

As a regional community, Oseh congregants come from Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel counties and beyond. Parents who are searching for a Hebrew School or Jewish School for their children will find a warm, engaging and inclusive environment.  Our mid-week online school is an an award winning program that offers families flexibility.

We are committed to the Jewish value of tikkun olam (the repair of the world) both locally and globally. Our Caring and Support committee provides assistance and comfort to our members in need; Social Action reaches out to the larger community through such efforts as organizing food drives, supporting immigrants, and helping the homeless, among many projects. We are also engaged in national and international issues that call out for action.

Take as long as you like to get to know our community and decide whether it is for you. Please join us at our services, classes, meals, and other synagogue events while you consider joining our family. Our monthly potluck dinners, the First Friday of every month, and other community events give members the opportunity to bond with one another. Explore our website and calendar for all the ways you can connect with our community.
